Biography
As an amateur, Richard led the Open Championship Regional qualifying at Alwoodley in 2002, and was also a member of the record-breaking Yorkshire County Team in 2002. Richard was the holder of three course records during his amateur career, and turned professional in January 2004.

Had the unenviable distinction of holing in one at a par 4 during the Europro Tour tournament at Whitekirk in Scotland, when there was a Peugeot car on offer for the same feat at any of the par 3 holes.
