Biography
One of the most popular players on Tour, Paul began his career in 1989 and
within months of turning professional won the Cannes Open. He suffered
a serious injury to his right hand while playing in the Dubai Desert
Classic in 2000 that required surgery, and it took a full two years to
recover his form.
Victory in the 2005 Portuguese Open was followed 12 months
later by a stunning second win in the same tournament and this raised
his career total to 6 European Tour victories.
Paul has represented England twice in the World Cup (1995
and 1997) and previously played in the 1991 Ryder Cup match in Kiawah
Island where he achieved a 100% record with a fourball victory with Ian
Woosnam against Paul Azinger and Hale Irwin, followed by beating Mark
O’Meara in the singles.
Paul is married to Lorraine and they have four children, twins
Alex and Sophie (1994), Sam (1997) and Aaron (2004).
